Maschinenfabrik Harry Lucas GmbH & Co. KG has developed a compact and cost-effective machine data acquisition system that can be easily retrofitted to almost any circular knitting machine. The aim is to monitor machine statuses centrally, record production data transparently and better evaluate downtimes – without any costly conversions.
The system is based on a Raspberry Pi with the company’s own PyMSC module (Python Machine Signal Collector). It collects signals directly from the machine, stores them in an InfluxDB time series database and displays them clearly using the Grafana visualization platform. This allows errors, running times, speeds and production quantities to be analyzed in real time.
Thanks to standardized interfaces (CSV/XML) and network access, the data can be easily exported and further processed. Installation is straightforward and the hardware is inexpensive – ideal for digitally retrofitting existing machinery.
With this system, Harry Lucas offers a practical solution for greater transparency, efficiency and maintenance planning in textile production.
